How to Create a Minerva User Account

Once you have a KFL library card, setting up an online Minerva user account will allow you to

  • see when your items are due
  • renew your items, when possible
  • request items
  • sign up for text message alerts when items are ready for pickup
  • opt in to having your reading history saved

To create a user account
1. Visit the Minerva website.
2. In the upper right hand corner of the catalog, select "My Library Account" and follow the instructions.

How to Request an Item

Online 
1. Visit the Minerva website.
2. Select "My Library Account," located in the top right corner of the screen.
3. Sign in with your name and library card number.
4. Search for your item and select the the title of the item.
5. Select "Request" next to the red checkmark located above the search box. You should receive a confirmation upon submitting the request. If you do not, please call the library at 207-985-2173 so that we can troubleshoot.

Please email the library or call us at 207-985-2173 with the following information:
  • your first and last name
  • the last 6 digits of your library card number
  • and the title and author of the item

How to Renew Your Items

Online 

1. Visit the Minerva website.
2. Select "My Library Account," located in the top right corner of the screen.
3. Sign in with your name and library card number.
4. Select "Items Currently Checked Out" link to view the materials you have checked out.
5. Select the materials you want to renew by checking the boxes in the RENEW column, and then select "Renew Selected". Or, if you want to renew everything, select "Renew ALL".
6. When asked "The following item(s)will be renewed. Would you like to proceed?", check that the information is correct and select "Yes".
  • If you cannot renew one or more of your items, a message will appear on the screen. You are welcome to call the library at 207-985-2173, as we are able to override and renew items, in certain circumstances.
  • If you are successful, a new due date will appear in the STATUS column. 
Always check the STATUS column for information on the success or failure of your renewal.

How to Set Up Text Message Alerts

To receive real-time notifications when your items arrive, follow these steps: 

1. In the library catalog, click on “My Library Account” in the top right-hand corner.
2. Log in using your name and barcode number. Select “Modify Personal Information.”
3. Fill in the box marked “Mobile Phone Number” (use xxx-xxx-xxxx format) and check the “Opt In” button underneath.
4. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the screen and click “Submit.”
5. Within a few minutes, you’ll get a text message asking you to “Reply YES to subscribe to SMS Library Alerts.” After replying, you will get the message: “Congrats! U subscribed to SMS Library Alerts.”
