The Edgar Awards

Nominations for The Edgar Awards were announced in February. The awards, named in honor of Edgar Allan Poe, are presented by the Mystery Writers of America for distinguished achievement in the mystery genre. Edgar Allan Poe was a novelist, critic, short story writer, and poet. His fiction is characterized by psychological intensity and a feeling of impenetrable enigma. This is especially evident in his tale of horror, The Tell-Tale Heart.

He is also famous for his distinguished contributions in the mystery genre and is credited with the development of the detective story model. His tale The Murders in the Rue Morgue initiated the modern detective story.
